Learn German. Expand Horizons.

German is not just a language, but also a key to diverse opportunities in study and career. German opens the door to scholarship and exchange programs and to universities in Germany, which are known for their high quality and comparatively low tuition fees. At the same time, German is a real advantage in professional life: many international companies maintain close ties with Germany, and the language creates pathways into exciting careers such as politics, education, business, culture, science, and history.

IIn NZ, you can start at four universities – the University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington, the University of Canterbury, and the University of Otago (remote) – even if you never studied German at school.

And these four students took the leap:
  • Courtney studied German at Victoria University in Wellington and went on to become a teaching fellow at the university.
  • Yusi combines Biology and German and is spending an exchange year in Baden-Württemberg.
  • Phoebe Rose uses German to enrich her opera career and her studies in linguistics.
  • Shantia is studying Aerospace Engineering in Munich – all thanks to his German skills.
