Goethe-Institut Pakistan, in collaboration with the Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at IBA Karachi, hosted a two-day workshop on September 25–26, 2025. The programme explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism and how future media professionals can safeguard credibility, impartiality, and public trust in this changing environment.

The workshop brought together students from four different universities. Sarah Atiq opened the sessions with insights on the promises and challenges of AI in journalism, highlighting emerging trends in both Pakistani and global media. Esra Lale, WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) addressed the pressing question of rebuilding trust in news, leading a discussion on credibility and impartiality in the German media landscape.

Luisa von Richthofen, DW (Deutsche Welle) engaged participants on effective storytelling for social media, strategies to counter hate speech and divisiveness, and conducted a hands-on exercise on fact-checking and digital verification tools.

We thank our trainers, the students, and our partners at CEJ-IBA for making this exchange of ideas timely, meaningful and successful.
