Schubert’s Winterreise

Production discription:
Andreas Heise's Winterreise is a unique, interpretation of Schubert's work. Besides the usual duo combination of voice and piano, he is adding the element of dance. The choreography creates a dramaturgical triangle that emphasizes the music, removes cultural barriers and allows the performance to be highly emotional and physical. Filled with passion and intensity, the interdisciplinary work of art offers guidance for an inner journey and allows a very special life experience.

This piece is part of the NAPA International Performing Arts Festival 2020.
Tickets will be available at the gate.
Tickets price is Rs. 800 and Rs. 400 for Students.

They will also perform in Lahore at LGS International on 11th March and in Islamabad on 12th March at PNCA (entry at PNCA is open to all).


Biographies:

Juliane Banse is an artist of outstanding artistic versatility. She has an extremely broad opera repertoire, having sung roles such as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), the Countess in Figaro (her debut at the Salzburg Festival), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Genoveva (title role), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Arabella (title role), Grete (Der ferne Klang), and Leonore (Fidelio). She made her U.S. opera debut at the Lyrical Opera of Chicago as Rosalinde (Fledermaus) and shortly afterwards made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Zdenka in Arabella (2014). Last season she had a great success not only for her interpretation of the title role of Grigory Frid’s Tagebuch der Anne Frank at the Theater an der Wien, but also when she took over the title role at short notice in the opera by Stefan Braunfels, Jeanne d’Arc, at Opera Cologne and performed in a world premiere by Manfred Trojahn during the Salzburg Easter Festival.
On the concert stage Juliane Banse is also sought after in a wide variety of roles. She has worked with numerous renowned conductors including Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Chailly, Bernard Haitink, Franz Welser-Möst, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta. She also works regularly with Heinz Holliger; her highly celebrated performance as Snow White in the premiere of the opera of the same name (Schneewittchen) at Zurich Opera is well remembered.
 
Alexander Krichel
At 28, German pianist Alexander Krichel has established himself as one of the most promising and thoughtful voices amongst today’s young pianists. A recording artist for Sony Classical, his first recital disc has won the “Newcomer of the Year” ECHO Classic award in 2013. Following this, Alexander has released a number of critically acclaimed recordings, including Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Dresden Philharmonic and Michael Sanderling and most recently “Miroirs”, an album of solo works by Maurice Ravel.
Alexander has already made debuts with orchestras such as the Hamburger Symphoniker under Jonathan Nott, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra under Antonio Méndez, as well as the Tokyo and Kyoto Symphony Orchestras and the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa. In 2016/17, he performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Bremer Philharmoniker under Michael Schønwandt, and has already been invited back to open their 2018/19 season under Marko Letonja. Alexander is a keen chamber musician and has collaborated with French horn player Felix Klieser, with whom he has toured Germany last season, and 2018 will see a new collaboration with the Signum Quartet.

István Simon is an international dance artist, permanent guest performer of Dortmund Opera, Germany and a regular guest with many of the most admired opera houses and theatres of the world, such as Teatro di San Carlo-Naples and Kremlin Theatre-Moscow.
As an international dance artist, he is regularly invited to the most prestigious festivals and gala performances. He has performed at the Opéra National de Paris, New York City Centre, Tokyo Saitama Theatre, St. Petersburg Alexandrinsky Theatre, Antwerp DeSingel Theatre, Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris Théâtre de la Ville, Barcelona Opera Liceu, Teatro di San Carlo, Moscow Kremlin Theatre, Hungarian National Opera, Göteborg Opera House, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Finnish National Opera, Abu Dhabi Emirates Palace, and Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Chemnitz Opera, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen.
Mr. Simon studied at the Hungarian Dance Art University in Budapest. He won gold medals at the international ballet competitions of Helsinki, Brno, St Pölten, was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne and won the Grand Prix Award of HDAA in Budapest.
 

Andreas Heise was born in Germany, he studied at the Palucca University for Dance in Dresden and in more recent years has trained in Acting in New York, Norway and East 15 Acting School in London where he also studied theatre direction. His career as a dancer began under Uwe Scholz at the Leipziger Ballett in 1998. In 2003, Andreas joined the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo where he performed many leading roles, including Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Lenski in Onegin, Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire, Oswald in Ghosts, Albrecht in Giselle and Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He also created roles in ballets by Jirí Kylián, William Forsythe, Paul Lightfoot, Sol Leon, John Neumeier, Nacho Duato, Christopher Wheeldon, Liam Scarlett, David Dawson and Jorma Elo.
He has also taught extensively for the Norwegian National Ballet School and for DV8’s touring productions of John and Can We Talk About This.
