A digital film project with PASCH-students in Pakistan

Digital Film workshop for young German learners in Pakistan on the topic of gender equality, human rights and democracy from the 01.02.-05.03.2021.

What are the roles of men and women in your culture, in your family, at your school? Are there parallels or differences and injustices? What are the pros and cons of being a girl or a boy? How are women and girls disadvantaged and what forms of gender-based violence exist?
In guided discussions, ours participating PASCH students share and deepen their knowledge of human rights, democracy and equality. In homogeneous gender groups, they produce films for each other, which they then exchange and discuss. They share their views and personal experiences with one another and gain a deeper understanding of the subject from various perspectives.

With German as the communication and production language, our participants learn how to use their smartphones in an optimized way, conduct interviews, write scripts and film narratives and create a shooting schedule.

They learn about the legal framework of antidiscrimination laws, the historical background of human rights movements around the world and discuss gender equality. Throughout this workshop, our participants advance their language skills in spoken and written word.

Our online workshops are based on the methods of participatory video and are democratic, inclusive and interactive. Our students turn into filmmakers
and journalists , who collaborate in the development and production of their own film. Our participants take all the editing decisions and we finalise the edit according to their script and guidance.

On the last day of the workshop, all 20 students watch and discuss the 4 films.

In a final online film screening, followed by a Q&A, all films are celebrated and discussed with a wider audience.
