Language, career orientation and international exchange

Deutsch Plus Beruf gives young German learners the opportunity to strengthen their language skills while gaining practical insights into education and professional life in Germany. The 2025 programme brought together participants from different countries for an intensive stay in Heilbronn combining German lessons, intercultural exchange, company and university visits, city excursions and group activities.

Representing Saudi Arabia, Aly Tarek took part in the programme and documented his journey from his arrival in Germany to the final farewell.

Aly’s journey through Deutsch Plus Beruf

Aly’s experience began with his journey from Jeddah to Frankfurt, where he met other participants before travelling together to their accommodation in Heilbronn. What followed were three weeks filled with learning, new experiences and international friendships.

During the first two weeks, participants attended German classes at the Bildungscampus. After an initial placement test, Aly joined a B2.1 class. The lessons focused not only on improving language skills, but also on communication, teamwork and topics connected to professional life.

The programme continued beyond the classroom. Daily workshops, group activities and evening reflection sessions gave the participants many opportunities to get to know one another and share their different cultural backgrounds. Excursions to Schwäbisch Hall, Heidelberg and Tübingen allowed them to discover new cities and experience everyday life in Germany.

In the final week, the focus shifted towards career orientation. The group visited companies and higher-education institutions in and around Heilbronn. One of Aly’s personal highlights was the visit to Audi, where the participants learned more about the company and tested driving simulators. Visits to organisations such as Kaufland, together with presentations and practical exercises, offered further insights into the German working environment.

More than a language course

For Aly, Deutsch Plus Beruf was much more than an opportunity to improve his German. Living and learning with participants from different countries helped him develop greater independence, confidence and intercultural understanding.

Throughout the programme, the participants presented their home countries, worked together on creative tasks and learned to respect different perspectives. The shared classes, excursions and activities turned an educational programme into a memorable international experience. Aly returned to Saudi Arabia with improved language skills, valuable impressions of academic and professional life in Germany, and friendships that reached far beyond the classroom.
