This traditional Mexican festival, during which deceased loved ones are invited to a family celebration with their favorite foods, takes place every year on November 1 and 2.
Instead of mourning, the deceased are remembered here with vibrant colors, fragrant food, mariachi music, and colorful parades: a commemoration of the dead that goes beyond the silence of the grave. The custom has been designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and Hollywood has also embraced it.
Here you’ll get a brief glimpse and some background information on the traditions surrounding the Day of the Dead: Stefania, who has already had the chance to experience this spectacle in person, takes you on an exciting journey to discover this fascinating tradition.
