Podcasts Meet the German Language Classroom: Listen, Learn, Share

Podcasts are authentic, engaging, and incredibly versatile resources that can bring new energy to German language teaching. In this online session, we will introduce the fascinating history podcast “Wer wir sind und warum das nicht klappte …” (“Who We Are and Why It Didn’t Work Out…”), which takes listeners on a journey through German history – from the Neanderthals to the present day.
Together, we will explore how podcasts can be used effectively in German as a Foreign Language (GFL/DaF) classrooms: to develop listening skills, spark meaningful discussions, support project-based learning, and encourage intercultural exploration.

What to expect
  • An introduction to the podcast “Wer wir sind und warum das nicht klappte …”
  • Practical ideas for using podcasts in the German language classroom
  • Concrete lesson activities and teaching experiences
  • An opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow teachers
  • A curated collection of recommended podcasts for different proficiency levels
