Description

Knowing the past can tell us more about the present and help us build a better future. In ten worksheets and a bonus task students will start from questions that engage us today and learn how people in both the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) looked at their everyday life and how they understood the period they lived in. They will learn more about the historical background and review video testimonials by experts, filmmakers, and activists. The past takes them directly to the present inviting to reflect on the narratives and challenges in their own communities today.

Download the educator handbook for guidance, instructions and an answer-key to all worksheets. Check out the content in "Commonalities and differences GDR vs FRG" as well.
