Practicing and interconnecting skills in the classroom

Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the "classic" four skills when it comes to language learning. When learning German as a second language, learners also acquire the language in all of the above-mentioned skill areas. How can as many skills as possible be linked in one teaching unit?
