It is a road movie that primarily shows the growing up and growing stronger of the protagonist Maik.
14-year-old Maik Klingenberg spends the first two weeks of his summer vacation alone in the family's imposing house, his mother in rehab, his father on a "business trip" with his strikingly attractive assistant. Suddenly Tschick, the new classmate from Russia, shows up in a stolen Lada. You can't figure Tschick out. He sometimes acts drunk, may or may not have contacts with the Russian mafia, and is, on the whole, pretty much the opposite of the exemplary immigrant. Nevertheless, Maik gets into the car. It's the beginning of an unforgettable journey through the beautiful German summer landscape - with some obstacles.
