European Day of Languages

The events to celebrate the European Day of Languages 2023 in the Czech Republic have ended. The leading organizers including the EUNIC network, the Directorate General for Translation of the European Commission, the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, the Library of Languages and other participating institutions look forward to seeing you at the events planned for the European Day of Languages 2024.

The European Day of Languages, celebrated since 2001 on 26 September every year, aims at celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe and encouraging lifelong language learning among citizens. You can find out more about the European Day of Languages on the website of the European Centre for Modern Languages.

Speak-dating

Speak dating is a session of brief introductions to foreign languages. It consists of short (5–10 minutes) language “lessons” in a language of your choice (mostly with a native speaker). The teachers are able to adapt to your level. You can practice your existing language skills or try out a new foreign language on your way home from work or school. In 2023, over 20 languages were on offer.
