European Day of Languages in Prague

The EUNIC Association, the DG for Translation of the EC and the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic and other institutions in Prague have once again prepared a traditional series of events to celebrate the European Day of Languages. This year’s edition took place on Tuesday the 22nd of September 2020. Due to Covid-related restrictions, we had to move the event online. The European Day of Languages aims at celebrating linguistic diversity in Europe and promoting knowledge of foreign languages among citizens. To find out more about 2020 click here

Despite the last-minute change, our teachers gave some 600 mini-lessons over the 4-hour stretch. Altogether, we prepared online lessons in 34 languages, including Greenlandic, Sorbian or Catalan. The online event attracted many participants from the regions, who would not be able to attend the event, if it took place in Lucerna. That is why are trying to find ways how to organize the online Speak-dating again in 2021, alongside with the traditional Lucerna event.
