Movements and Moments – Comics on Indigenous Feminisms
Project presentation
20. May
13:00-14:30
The comic project Movements and Moments - Feminist Generations, initiated by the Goethe-Institut Jakarta, aims to make feminist movements from South America, India and Southeast Asia visible. The stories introduce hidden biographies and activisms. In this session, participating artists and storytellers will discuss the persons, communities, and stories portrayed in their works: Alejandra Retana Betancourt and María José Retana Betancourt will highlight a community's fight against eviction of their Nahua heritage,
Reetika Revathy Subramanian and Maitri Dore will present activist Godavari Dange's and her community's journey.
Faye Cura and Nina Martinez will introduce the role of Kalinga women in the struggle against the threats to their ancestral land. In addition to the discussion, illustrations from these stories will be on display outside at the Pfefferberg.
