Bettina Wilpert, born in 1989, grew up near Altötting, studied Cultural Studies and English in Potsdam and Berlin as well as Literary Writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. For her debut novel nichts, was uns passiert (2018), she was awarded the ZDF ‘aspekte’ literature prize for the best literary debut of the year and the Lessing Prize sponsorship award, among others. Bettina Wilpert published her second novel Herumtreiberinnen in 2022 and Die bärtige Frau in spring 2025. Bettina Wilpert lives as a freelance writer and mother of two in Leipzig.
