Robert Ide

Born in 1975, Robert Ide grew up in the East Berlin district of Pankow. He works as a writer for Tagesspiegel, and is also a podcaster and an expert on German unity. He co-founded Dritte Generation Ost, an initiative that seeks to give visibility and a voice to the youngest generation to have been born in East Germany. In 2007, his book Geteilte Träume. Meine Eltern, die Wende und ich (Divided Dreams: My Parents, Reunification and Me) was published by Luchterhand. More recently, he has co-hosted the podcast Im Osten – Wo Deutschland sich entscheidet (In the East – Where Germany Decides) with journalist Sabine Schicketanz, and has extensively covered the elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
