The Science Film Festival celebrated its first edition in Bangladesh in 2019. The Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, in cooperation with the University of Liberal Arts (ULAB), JAAGO Foundation’s schools, PASCH: Partners for the Future (Maple Leaf International School, Mastermind International School Chittagong, Oxford International School and South Point School & College) and the Children's Television Foundation of Bangladesh, organized the festival in two different cities - Dhaka and Chittagong. 25 films were selected to be screened during the festival period from October 12 to November 15 at the Goethe-Institut and six different school and university premises. Some partner schools organized educational activities and experiments following the screenings. The Goethe-Institut Bangladesh also presented a special screening of "Anote's Ark" in partnership with the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, UN Women, UN Environment Programme and EmPower at the ULAB auditorium as part of Science Film Festival. An expert panel was brought on stage to discuss on the film and the larger implications of climate change.

Around 300 students from all participating schools attended the official opening ceremony that thematically focused on plastic pollution and included several inter-school competitions, held in the Maple Leaf International School on October 12. In total, the Science Film Festival 2019 in Bangladesh attracted 3,000 visitors.
