During the month of November 2022, the Goethe Center Maputo/Mozambican-German Cultural Center (CCMA) will host another edition of the largest International Film Cycle for Scientific Cinema, the Science Film Festival (SFF). For Mozambique it will be the second edition of the festival that was born in 2005.
More than 20 short and feature films will be screened for children and youth from various countries around the globe will be screened for children and youth, in public and private schools, neighborhoods and community associations with the aim of bringing cinema also to alternative and peripheral spaces to educate and positively influence youth. There will also be some Q&A sessions with directors and participants of the films in person and online.
Among the partners of this edition are the High Commission of Canada, the Spanish Embassy, and Radio Mozambique (RM). With the latter, a parallel activity will be organized which consists in the production of podcasts and radio programs on themes addressed in the SFF films, by the children's group of RM. The group will address the topic of Malaria together with scientists from the Health Research Center of Manhiça, as part of the Cooperation with the Embassy of Spain, among other topics.
Through GIZ-German Cooperation in Mozambique, the SFF will also travel to the provinces of Inhambane and Sofala for sessions in some of the Teacher Training Institutes. Also the initiative "PASCH: Schools - a partnership for the future," will organize a showcase at the Industrial and Comercial Institute of Beira, one of CCMA's two partner schools.
