The Philippines

16th Edition
The Science Film Festival Philippines 2025 took place from 24 October to 1 December, continuing its tradition as the country’s largest and longest-running science film festival. The festival officially opened on 24 October at the National Museum of the Philippines – Museum of Natural History, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), with around 200 participants attending the launch. Now in its 16th year, the festival built on the momentum of previous editions and reached audiences nationwide through screenings held in classrooms, museums, libraries, and partner institutions, supported by the continued cooperation of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

In total, the festival reached 111,266 participants across the Philippines, demonstrating its sustained reach and relevance in promoting science learning through film. The program also engaged seven partner schools from the Special Program on Foreign Language (SPFL) of DepEd, strengthening links between science, language learning, and interdisciplinary education. A special highlight was an additional screening on 25 November at Liceo de Cagayan University, a long-standing partner and PASCH school, which attracted around 700 students and underlined strong regional collaboration. Implemented with the support of a broad network of partners - including DepEd, DOST, the National Museum of the Philippines, Rolls-Royce, and numerous educational and cultural institutions - the festival continued to inspire curiosity and demonstrate how film can connect education, sustainability, and imagination across generations.
