6th Edition
The Science Film Festival in India celebrated its sixth edition from October 1 to December 20, 2022. Organised by Goethe-Institut(s) throughout India, the festival offered a total of 23 films focusing on ‘Equal Opportunities in Sciences’ as the theme.

The film screenings were hosted online and offline in cooperation with our local partners: Society for All Round Development (SARD), schools of PASCH and BKD network, National Council of Science Museums, Rotary Club of Madras East, Environmentalist foundation of India, Ramakrishna Mission, Ektara Foundation, Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, Inheritage Project, Spastics Society of Tamilnadu, National Film Archives Pune. In addition, hundreds of schools across the country also hosted screenings facilitated by local festival teams with activity workshops demonstrating easy and fun science activities that anyone can do at home. The hands-on activities have been greatly popular with students and teachers alike.

As special features, Goethe-Institut, New Delhi hosted the academic facilitators of Society for All Round Development (SARD) in a travelling digital lab which travelled with the science films across remote schools in Delhi and Haryana. In Chennai, the festival involved field trips to MS Swaminathan Research Foundation to explore the relation between science and ecology. The expert facilitators from Chennai also worked with children with disability to make science education more accessible to all.

With the immense support of our partners, the festival recorded a total of 19 141 participants in India in 2022. The festival hopes to continue making science learning exciting and fun for thousands of students across India!
