The Science Film Festival makes its return to Namibia from October 13 to 24, with this year’s focus on the timely and vital theme of Green Jobs. Set against the coastal backdrop of Swakopmund, the festival will explore how environmentally sustainable careers are shaping the future and driving positive changes in local communities around the country.
Organized by the Goethe-Institut Namibia and the Swakopmund Scientific Society in collaboration with the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET) and Oceans Conservation Namibia (OCN), the festival aims to spark curiosity, critical thinking, and environmental awareness among young Namibians. As part of this year’s program, a community beach clean-up action will be organized on Saturday, October 25, encouraging collective engagement with environmental responsibility.
School learners will take part in educational activities, including interactive workshops, hands-on experiments, and film screenings designed to make science accessible and exciting. In addition, the festival will host panel discussions with experts and environmental advocates, offering deeper insight into Namibia’s growing green economy and the real-world impact of sustainable careers.
By connecting science, education, and environmental preservation, the Science Film Festival 2025 in Namibia aims to empower the next generation to see science not only as a subject but as a tool for building a better future.
