Knowing the Mosquitos of Aedes – Transmitters of Arboviruses

This video aims to disseminate knowledge about mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Aedes polynesiensis by presenting these arthropods as the vectors for Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya viruses, which in recent years have caused serious public health problems throughout the world. The documentary features a mix of real and virtual images that depict the external and internal morphological characteristics of mosquitoes. In addition, the evolutionary process of a viral infection progressing in mosquito tissues and organs to become capable of transmitting viruses to new hosts is presented. The cinematographic originality of this work stems from the strategies used in the construction of the scenes that show unpublished details of the life of the mosquitoes of the genus Aedes.
