HARD BOILED WONDERLAND SRI LANKA is a project between 4 Sri Lankan and 4 German artists inspired by the already greatly proven and unique format of HARD BOILED WONDERLAND Germany (Deutscher Jazzpreis 2022) in the local Sri Lankan context. In Sri Lanka, recent historic mass public protests resulted in unprecedented events which led to the president fleeing the country. A few months later, the politicians responsible for the dire economic state of the country are back in power attempting to continue business as usual. The pressure in the boiler is increasing and society is gradually being "hard-boiled". HARD BOILED WONDERLAND SRI LANKA presents a political form of concert as a reaction to some of the pressing societal, social and ecological issues in Sri Lanka. Related quotations and texts from various sources, as well as original texts by artists involved, are the focus of a multi-layered, radical music performance. Each performance is followed by a discussion with the audience.
