THE PRACTICE OF SHARING IN THE MUSCOGEE CULTURE
THE PRACTICE OF SHARING IN THE MUSCOGEE CULTURE - Lecture and talk with Tom Blue Wolf and Wolfgang Sützl © Wikimedia
“Within each place on earth, a particular pattern develops from the interactions of sun, gravity and space – the framework into which each fits.
Humans, too, can begin to fit just as beautifully into the pattern of their place, through a positive alternative to conscious willing; it’s more like playing. ‘Story’ grows out of this type of play. As the festival grows through time, the story develops. The story of a community is the way that a people fits into its place. The place gives us the pattern and the story is how we fit into that pattern. The story was our most sacred possession. The ‘People’ knew that with a story you have a nation, a culture and a civilization. With a story of your own to live, you have a life of your own. This is the conscious process within which our sharing takes place.”
