The Goethe-Institut has sent symbolic bricks on a journey to commemorate
the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Their destination:
Yemen, the Palestinian Territories, Israel, Korea, Mexico, China and Cyprus.
In these places the bricks served as a canvas for artists, intellectuals and young people to tackle the “Wall” phenomenon. The Wall in the World was the international contribution to the “Festival of Freedom” on 9th November 2009 at the Brandenburg Gate. The more than 1,000 bricks of the domino event were on display there for the public together with the Mauerreise bricks from November 7th until November 9th.
