Marjaleena Lembcke was born in Kokkola, Finland in 1945. She studied theatre arts in Finland and has lived in Germany since 1967. From 1972 until 1975 she studied sculpture at the Münster Academy of Art.
Marjaleena Lembcke has been writing short stories, novels and poems for children and adults since 1985. Her most successful book to date has been "Mein finnischer Großvater", which she wrote in German and published in 1993.
She has won numerous awards for her works.
She now lives near Münster in the region of Westphalia.
