Requirements

The Goethe-Institut examinations are available to all interested parties and can be taken regardless of your age or nationality.

An age of 10 years or over is recommended for the Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch 1.

Fit in Deutsch 1 requires knowledge of the German language at the first level of competence (A1) laid down by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Teaching units

In order to achieve this level of competence you will need 80 to 200 45-minute teaching units, depending on your previous knowledge and learning requirements.

Preparation

If you think that you meet the language requirements, then you can enrol for an exam at any time. We recommend that you participate in one of our preparatory courses, however. During these courses, you will learn language and examination-specific skills that will make it as easy as possible for you to pass the examination.
