Film Archive

The Goethe-Institut offers an extensive collection of more than 300 German films in digital format with a variety of subtitle options. The collection covers the history of German cinema, ranging from Expressionist classics to contemporary productions.

The films are available free of charge for non-commercial screenings by cinemas, film clubs, film festivals, cultural institutions, and educational and research organizations. Films cannot be borrowed by private individuals.

Please note that we no longer send DVDs. All films are provided exclusively in digital format.

• Films must be screened in their entirety
• Screening rights may not be transferred to third parties
• Please request films as early as possible
