Prints and drawings by German artist Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945), one of the most important German artists of the 20th century, are currently being shown for the first time in the National Gallery of Ireland. Kollwitz’s work reminds us of the horror and ultimate futility of war and the exhibition commemorates, in an indirect way, the centenary of WWI.

As part of the exhibition “Käthe Kollwitz – Life, Death and War“ an afternoon concert to mark remembrance day, featuring pieces by Karl Weigl, Erwin Schulhoff and Maurice Ravel, will be presented.

Programme:

Maurice Ravel: 'Le tombeau de Couperin'
Fionnuala Moynihan (piano)

Erwin Schulhoff: Five Pieces for String Quartet
Ficino Ensemble

Karl Weigl: Five Songs for Soprano and String Quartet Op.44
Deirdre Moynihan (soprano), Ficino Ensemble

Tickets are available here.

Presented in co-operation with the National Gallery of Ireland and curated by Kaleidoscope.
