Many months without live screenings have passed since „The Sixth Land” was previeved at the Film Forum in September 2020. The Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka alongside Agenda 14 had long hoped to re-open the Film Forum with a very special preview of “Goodnight Colombo” an anthology film created during the first year of the pandemic but as months pass without a clear indication when we will be able to gather in the Goethe-hall for screenings again we decided to explore the format of a virtual Film Forum.

During the first year of the pandemic Agenda14 was able to secure support to sustain their cultural activities from the International Relief Fund of the German Foreign Office, the Goethe-Institut and other partners. Apart from conducting the Colombo International Women’s Festival and Agenda14 Short Film Festival online and the Jaffna International Cinema Festival in hybrid-format the support enabled a series of short films to be made that dealt with the changed realities in the early phase of the pandemic.

Agenda 14 worked closely to produce this anthology film with chapters by the 11 directors Nipu Fernando, Krishan Kodithuwakku, Lanka Bandaranayake, Muvindu Binoy, Sumudu Athukorale, Dimon John, Mathavan Maheswaran, Fathima Shanaz, Danushka Wijesooriya, Yoshita Perera and Rahuul Ratnaayake all shot on an smart phone and strictly in adherence with the mandated Covid restrictions.

The anthology film will be on view from Wednesday 7. July 6.00 pm till Thursday 8.July 11.59.

A discussion with the eleven directors moderated by producer Anomaa Rajakaruna will take place over Zoom on Thursday 8.July at 6.00 pm

You can access the film and the discussion via the Agenda14 website: www.agenda14.lk/filmforum

The new website was also enabled by the International Relief Fund, if you have not yet check out the film section that features many Agenda14 productions of the last years: https://www.agenda14.lk/film-productions
