Research meets Art
Conceptualised and initiated by the Bayreuth Academy of Advanced African Studies and Iwalewahaus at the University of Bayreuth in Germany, FAVT is unique in that it is a collaboration between researchers and artists who explore numerous topics under the different modes of “futuring” - thinking ahead in time. The project acknowledges the existence of a past and how that affects what a person envisions as a future, Africa’s future, and features art works that result from research and manifest the turning moment from a memory to envisioning a future.
Local artists were invited to contribute to the project in Namibia and present their interpretation of the different modes of futuring: healing and remembering - longing and desiring - and de/stabilizing.
