Games for Our Common Future

The role games can play as a contribution to social development in addressing matters such as climate change, inequalities, global-interdependence and sustainability has become more prominent over the past few years. The active participation and responsibilities of the younger generations in such discourses has great potential through something not foreign to them: games.

A Game Jam is an intense and learning arrangement that gathers a group for them to explore topics of Game Design, Graphic Facilitation, Product Design and Sound Design. The 72-hour event will result in the production of meaningful games by 4 teams and the facilitators involved are experts in the said fields of software development.

Teams consisting of 4-6 members from 16 to 27 years of age (high school learners, university students or members of civil society organizations) may apply. Send a mail telling us about your group and why you would like to participate in this Game Jam to gamejamnamibia@urbandialogues.de

Games for Our Common Future was initiated by a Berlin-based art association, urban dialogues, and has been active across Africa for more than 20 years in spearheading the development and implementation of educational art programmes in response to the urban flux and social change. Methodological research and the development of meaningful games in software development have the potential to enable the younger generations and make their active participation in social matters possible.

Games for Our Common Future is funded by the Goethe-Institut Namibia and supported by the Wolwedans Foundation.
