Dreaming New Worlds

Art & Science

DNW © Ayobami Farouk

Dreaming New Worlds is a project which began in 2023 to foster science and art collaboration in today's contemporary times. The project aims to facilitate cutting-edge experimentation and implementation of projects that promote a multidisciplinary approach to art and science practices while contributing possible solutions to Africa's social, ecological, cultural, and economic challenges.
Antifragility, a concept by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, remains the ground upon which the project builds to support and platform ideas from the continent. Antifragility, he defines, is a property of systems where they increase in capability to thrive because of stressors, shocks, volatility, noise, mistakes, faults, attacks, or failures.

About The 2026 Theme: Codes of Conduct

Codes are programs that dictate behavior and outcomes within digital and analogue systems. Here, the programmer is the leader, the designer, the dreamer of new worlds.
This year's theme explores the dynamics in which technology is reshaping leadership, belonging, and organization in African technological societies. The theme aims to support the development and prototyping of ideas around ownership and agency as it manifests in Africa.
