Marketing and Communications Coordinator

  • Location: Wellington Central (Hybrid)
  • Type of employment: Part time/ 18,75h per week
  • Starting date: Fixed-Term until 30.11.2026 with potential permanent position from January 2027
  • Monthly gross salary of $ 5200 - $ 5733 NZD (pro-rated/based on experience)
  • 25 days holidays a year (pro-rated based on the start of the year)

The Goethe-Institut is looking for a highly organised Marketing and Communications Coordinator. If you’re passionate about culture and languages, and know your way around Canva, Facebook, websites, and Insta – we want to hear from you!  This role requires a high level of written and oral proficiency in both English and German.

Your work will include:

  • Manage the social networks including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. in English and German
  • Content creating for said social networks (posts, stories, reels, events, giveaways, etc.).
  • Develop the Goethe-Institut New Zealand social media strategy, create and implement communications plans in collaboration with the Director, Head of Language and our regional service unit who are experts in all things digital marketing
  • Managing of editing, design and layout of Goethe-Institut New Zealand website ensuring all information, images and content are up to date in English and German
  • Designing communication materials (knowledge of Canva essential).
  • Manage the production of regular e-newsletters and editorial content in English and German
  • Manage Google Ads campaigns
  • Build and develop relationships within the Goethe-Institut New Zealand network of partners and in relevant social media communities.
  • Work closely with the Director and administrative team to manage and co-ordinate regular cultural events
  • Assisting with responding to general enquiries and general administrative work.
  • Assisting with the organisation, set-up and documentation of functions, film nights, workshops, cultural events, etc.
  • Manage and support our interns (3-4 per year)

About You

You are organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently. Most importantly, you enjoy working with social media and bring creativity and curiosity to what you do.We are looking for someone who understands posts, reels, shorts, basic photography, graphic designing, video recording, video editing and captioning with subtitles.

You´ll bring:

  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their unique best practices
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and visually appealing content that connects with our audience
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools
  • Experience with Canva
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • An absolute passion for social media and staying up to date with social media trends
  • An ability to be creative and design ideas and marketing plans
  • A willingness to occasionally work outside office hours.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and other
  • Strong written communication skills in English and German
