Goethe-Institut Library Club
In the special series of Lies mit, dedicated to honoring the profound literary legacy of
Franz Kafka. Franz Kafka is by no means “just a classic”. His social critiques and images of fundamental human experiences are highly topical even today. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Kafka's death and 2023 would have been the 140th birthday of the world-famous author. On the occasion of these anniversaries, the Goethe-Institut will take the opportunity to reflect on his work.
Join us as we commemorate his enduring influence on literature with a stimulating event featuring Mr.
Kristian Cordero, a multifaceted artist known for his poetry, fiction, essays, translations, and independent films. Mr. Cordero's notable contributions include the translation of Franz Kafka's works into Bikol and Filipino. As head of the translation committee of the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair 2025, he'll deliver an insightful lecture titled "Kafka and I: Notes on Language, Translation, and Cultural Diplomacy."
