Attiya Dawood and
Afzal Ahmed Syed will share their experiences with the German-South Asian project ‘
Poets translating Poets’, the project was organized from Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan in Mumbai, in cooperation with Haus der Poesie in Berlin and the German commission for UNESCO. There were 9 “encounters”: workshops between South-Asian and German poets in different cities in South Asia including Karachi. The principal idea was to have an interlinear translation to enable the poets to work directly on their texts with the help of interpreters. 20 Languages and 51 Poets were involved, resulting in 187 Poems and 280 translations. A book was published with all the poems in two volumes.
