Expert Podium Discussion

Attendance by invitation only

Museums in Africa are undergoing a process of change. Directors and curators of the new generation are critically questioning existing collections and traditional forms of exhibition and presentation. With the series “Museum Conversations”, the Goethe-Institut brings together international academics, museum experts and curators to discuss the future of African museums from a postcolonial perspective.

The “Museum Conversations” of the Goethe-Institut take place from July to November in various African cities. They started in Kigali/Rwanda, continued in Windhoek/Namibia, Ouagadougou/Burkina Faso, Kinshasa/DR Kongo and will finally come to Accra, Lagos and Dar es Salaam in November.

In Dar es Salaam experts from national and private museums in Tanzania will discuss future models for museums in Eastern Africa together with two invited guests from Uganda and Rwanda.
