About DLL Extension Unit 8

The focal points of this unit are language acquisition and the learning process of early childhood, facets of developmental psychology, skill-building, and, above all, methodological and didactic aspects of teaching children.

Learning Objectives

• Participants know the phases of first language acquisition and know how early multilingualism influences how children learn second or world languages.
• Participants are familiar with the linguistic learning objectives of early world language instruction as well as the techniques and types of exercises for training listening and speaking skills.
• Participants know the importance of pronunciation and intonation as well as activities for acquiring vocabulary.
• Participants know the function of rules and routines in the classroom.
• Participants know the criteria for selecting topics and learning materials and can select and modify suitable material for their target group.
