Stream KINO! Germany NOW! A project of the German Film Office, presented in partnership with the Frida Cinema, this series presents some of Germany’s most promising narrative, documentary, and short films that premiered within the last year. Including 13 films by 14 up-and-coming directors from Germany, all with distinct backgrounds and unique approaches to filmmaking, Kino! Germany Now! offers a diverse cross-section of current German cinema.
How does the past take shape? What happens in the process of coming to terms with the past? What social repercussions are associated with the rooting of history in monuments and memorials? These questions and many others are at the center of our project, Shaping the Past.
The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is proud to announce its new collaboration with Michael Maltzan Architecture (MMA). Together with our headquarters, we have selected MMA to lead the build-out of our future home, a new project space located in the diverse Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, close to MacArthur Park.
The Berlin-based street journal Arts of the Working Class and the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles present the AOWC Special Edition Nr. 5 / Extrablatt WORLDS OF HOMELESSNESS. The special edition includes the work of the contributors to the Worlds of Homelessness project from around the world.
At the end of the Year of Germany in the USA, the Goethe-Instituts in the United States have strengthened their network with three completely updated institutes in Boston, Washington and Los Angeles. This is a signal of how important it is to continue the cultural and civil society dialogue between North America and Germany.
