“Ehrenurkunde” awards program

The Goethe-Institut Chicago is pleased to help motivate and encourage German language students through our “Ehrenurkunde” awards program.

The program for high school students is administered jointly by the Goethe-Institut Chicago and the German Consulate General in Chicago. The Goethe-Institut Chicago choses an appropriate book prize and together with the German Consulate General, the certificate is issued.

The program for college students is administered by the Goethe-Institut Chicago and includes a certificate and book prize.

German teachers/instructors may nominate one student per level (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior). “Ehrenurkunden” are typically presented in the spring and are awarded to students who have made the most academic progress during the school year.

If you would like to order “Ehrenurkunden” for your students, please
  • send an email to the Goethe-Institut Chicago at least three to four weeks prior to the award ceremony listing your students' names, age, language skill level, and interests (so that an appropriate book can be chosen)
  • include the date of your award ceremony
  • send the complete address (including the street number) of your school, college or university (no PO boxes please!) and
  • provide us with an email address for an e-payment as the Goethe-Institut Chicago is charging $30 for shipping and handling.

The certificates and book prizes will be sent directly to the address you provided.
