Reporting on CLAD: Articles by Citizen Journalists

Bratislava, Lisbon, 1 April 2026

The articles by the Portuguese and Slovak citizen journalists selected through the Open Call to report on CLAD have now been published. You can read them here:

Joana Ascensão (PT) conducted research on the LGBTQ+ community in Slovakia and the effects of the current political climate. She compared the situation in Slovakia with developments in Portugal and across the Europe, with a stronger emphasis on political aspects than on the influence of the church. Sofia Craveiro (PT) prepared a report on the impact of disinformation on the political institutions in the context of the increasing spread of false information. Using Slovakia and Portugal as case studies, she also conducted interviews with experts from both countries. Barbora Paľovčíková (SK) analysed how far-right political parties use disinformation to influence younger generations on platforms such as TikTok. Her research compared Portuguese and Slovak political narratives concerning the European Union, migration, and the war in Ukraine. Ana Patrícia Silva (PT) conducted research on how online disinformation and polarisation have a tangible impact on cities, particularly in relation to affordable housing in Bratislava and Lisbon. She examined how online interventions influence urban environments and public discourse. Eva Štefanková (SK) focused on disinformation related to gender equality and LGBTQ+ issues, examining both the Slovak and Portuguese contexts and their broader societal impact.
