A glance into freedom

The Goethe-Institut always takes into account topics such as freedom, civil courage and democracy both in youth exchanges and teacher training courses as well as in the creation of learning and teaching materials.

In 2019, the "Mauerfallkalender" (calendar on the fall of the Berlin Wall) was produced.
In 2020 the graphic novel "Fluchten in die Freiheit" (Escapes to Freedom) was published.The Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the coordinators for educational programmes on German as a foreign language and education in Greek schools and the professional advisor for German in Greece (Central Agency for German Schools Abroad) developed an accompaying  teaching guideline.

In 2021, the project „Sophie Scholl: Geschichte(n) der Zivilcourage“ (Sophie Scholl: History/Stories of civil courage) took place as part of the PASCH initiative.
In 2022, the resulting teaching and learning material from all three projects was brought together in a digital learning environment for easier use in the classroom,  called "Blick in die Freiheit" (a glance into freedom). With one click, you and your students can access a digital learning space, which we will expand in the future.
