Description

Michael Herbig's film Balloon tells the true story of the two East German families Strelzyk and Wetzel, which made headlines around the world in September 1979. In secrecy, the two families constructed a hot air balloon and made it by hand in order to escape from East to West Germany with it. When the Stasi gets to know of their plan, the escape becomes a battle against the clock.
