Description
The Miracle of Bern combines the story of a father-son relationship with the authentic story of the unexpected victory of the German national soccer team in the 1954 World Cup. Nine years after the end of World War II, not all the soldiers have yet returned home from captivity. Eleven-year-old Matthias, who has never seen his father, has found a surrogate father in Helmut Rahn, an international soccer player from Essen. Finally, Matthias' father returns to his family after twelve years. But it is not until the final game in Bern that the two find their way to each other, over the trauma of war.
