Description

This month’s U-Häppchen focuses on the topic “250 Years of American Independence” – highlighting the historical development from early conflicts between the American colonies and Great Britain to the founding of an independent nation. Students explore key events such as the Declaration of Independence, influential figures, and major turning points, gaining a foundational understanding of how the United States came into being. The current U-Häppchen invites students to discover the story of American independence step by step. Through carefully selected materials, learners expand their vocabulary, describe historical events in their own words, and place them into context using visual prompts. In this way, history becomes both accessible and actively engaging. A creative task completes the material: students reflect on their own experiences with independence or national celebrations, or creatively present historical events by producing a short reel. This approach allows the topic to be explored not only intellectually, but also personally and through modern media.
