Sandy Schwalen is a German American raised in Bryan, Texas. She studied international affairs and German at the University of Texas at Austin and the Hertie School in Berlin. After spending six years in Berlin, she relocated to Houston, Texas in 2024 where she heads the cultural programming at the Goethe-Institut.
