Andreas Ströhl manages the Goethe Institutes of the Sub-Saharan Africa region from the Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg. Before that, he managed the institutes in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from Washington D.C. From 2003 to 2011, he was the director of the Munich Film Festival. He earned his doctorate with a dissertation on Vilém Flusser's cultural theory.
