Olga Grjasnowa

Olga Grjasnowa was born in 1984 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She spent extended periods abroad in Poland, Russia, Israel and Turkey. She was awarded the Klaus Michael Kühne Prize and the Anna Seghers Prize for her acclaimed debut novel “All Russians Love Birch Trees”. 2014 saw the publication of “Die juristische Unschärfe einer Ehe” (i.e., The legal fuzziness of a marriage), 2017 “Gott ist nicht schüchtern” (i.e., God is not shy) and 2020 “Der verlorene Sohn” (i.e., The prodigal son). This was followed in 2021 by her first non-fiction book, “Die Macht der Mehrsprachigkeit” (i.e., The Power of Multilingualism), published by Duden. Her novels have been dramatised for the stage and All Russians Love Birch Trees" has been made into a film.
