Jwan Mattini fled Syria because of the civil war at the age of 16. He adjusted quickly to life in Germany: now twenty years old, he’s doing an apprenticeship in business management. You really have to be willing to learn, he says – and not only that.
Jwan Mattini …
…was born in 1999 in Damascus. In 2015 he fled because of the civil war, and came to Germany with his family. He passed his Mittlerer Schulabschluss (general school certificate at age 16) in Berlin. Jwan Mattini has been on a business management apprenticeship at Berliner Wasserbetriebe since September 2018.Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB) operates as a municipal company with responsibility for the provision of drinking water and disposal of wastewater for Berlin and some areas of Brandenburg. The waterworks offers apprenticeships in technical and commercial professions, as well as business management qualifications. This is a three-year apprenticeship.
