Event series

Due to the protests against the oppression of women by the Iranian regime, the Goethe-Institut in Exile focussed on the cultural scene in Iran from January to March 2023 and hosted numerous events on Iranian art and culture at Berlin's Kunsthaus ACUD. The diverse programme reflected the current situation of the local art and cultural scenes and gave the German-Iranian community a space for dialogue.

The Iran event series opened with the exhibition "Tracing Movement(s) in Uncertain Times", which was on display at the ACUD Gallery in Berlin from 26 January until 26 February 2023.
Curated by Amirali Ghasemi, the exhibition is a collective attempt by individuals and groups from Iran and beyond to shed light on various disrupted yet enduring paths towards freedom and equality that have been practised and explored for decades. The exhibition offered visitors an overview of artistic positions dealing with the decades of struggles and protests in Iran's recent history.
