Elshan Ghasimi (b. 1981 in Isfahan, Iran) is a master of the Persian long-necked Tar lute and Persian classical art music. She is a composer, performance artist, and educator working in spaces of encounter between tradition and modernity, West and East, music and other art forms.

Ghasimi's approach is essentially shaped by the tradition and practice of Radīf, the repertoire of Persian classical music transmitted through years of immersion and internalization, which she is the first female musician to reinterpret in a large-scale project. Her original compositions combine poetry and conceptual art with an individual engagement with her counterparts, a purely human encounter at eye level.

After training with renowned tar masters and intensive artistic activity in Iran, she moved to Germany in 2016, where she composes and performs with ensembles such as Concerto Köln and Ensemble ɛkstʁaktə, in addition to performing as a soloist.
