Radio Programme
In Cooperation with Refuge Worldwide
Refuge was founded as a fundraising platform that works in solidarity with grassroots and non-profit organisations. In January 2021, the radio station Refuge Worldwide was founded, broadcasting the music and conversations from Weserstraße 166 in Berlin Neukölln.
Before the festival began, a musical talk set the mood for the country focus on Afghanistan. In the Community Room & Studio of Refuge Worldwide, the Goethe-Institut in Exile invited the Afghan-born musician and cultural scientist Taman Noor to a discussion followed by a musical performance.

The crowning finale of the festival was the concert by the hip-hop collective AK13. The next morning, festival co-curator Armeghan Taheri met the group for an interview in the community space & studio of "Refuge Worldwide".

04. Afghan music from the 70s to the present - curated by Ismael Hares
Ismael Hare's song selection is subjective and includes classical music, folklore and Afghan pop songs. They all deal a lot with love, homeland, longing and lust for life. Especially the titles from the 70s were broadcast on state television. That was probably also the heyday of Afghan composition and lyricism.
